The Best Decision You’ll Ever Make

As a new believer in Christ Jesus, your life will change in ways you never imagined.

As a new Christian, it is important for you to develop a solid foundation in your faith through the word of God, prayer, and fellowship with other believers.

To become a Christian, follow these five steps:

Before becoming a life-long Christian, learn about God’s word through worship services, Bible study, and private reading.

Romans 10:14 (NIV): “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”

Romans 10:17 (NIV): “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”

While reading Jesus’ words for yourself, decide if you believe in God and that Jesus is His Son.

Romans 10:9 (NIV): “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
John 3:16 (NIV): “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

When we become Christians, we turn away from thoughts and actions that separate us from God.

Acts 2:38 (NIV): “Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'”

Acts 3:19 (NIV): “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”

When we become Christians, we all must confess our new beliefs to others, confirming our faith in Jesus.

Romans 10:8-10 (NIV): “But what does it say? ‘The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,’ that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

When we become saved, God commands us to be “born again” through baptism, a symbolic burial of our old life, and rise to a new life as a Christian.

Romans 6:3-4 (NIV): “Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

Acts 22:16 (NIV): “And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.”

Choosing to be a Christian is the best decision a person can make.
