Ready for a Fresh Start? Here's What Baptism Means
Simply put, baptism is a public way to show you’ve decided to follow Jesus. It’s a symbol of being washed clean from sin and starting a new life with Christ.
It’s a step of faith that shows obedience to Jesus. Through baptism, we show that we are living for Him.
Baptism is for anyone who believes in Jesus and has committed to following Him.
Matthew 28:19
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 2:38
“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.”
Types of Baptisms
There are different forms of baptism, each holding spiritual significance:
This is the full-body immersion in water, representing the washing away of sin and new life in Christ. This is how we baptize at Encounter Atlanta.

We don’t baptize infants, but we do offer child dedications. Baptism is for those old enough to understand and choose to follow Jesus.
