Sharing the wonderful news of your child's salvation brings immense joy!
What a momentous occasion it is, and we want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to you and your family.
Encounter Atlanta has designed a 4-week family lesson plan as a valuable resource. The family lesson plan is structured to provide a foundation for understanding and embracing the principles of salvation as your child learns to build a relationship with Jesus Christ.
In addition to the family lesson plan, you can help your child by purchasing a children's Bible, reading one Bible story a week and taking time to reread the story multiple times. Remember, children learn best through repetition. Consider asking discussion questions about the text or creating fun and engaging activities that complement the Bible stories.
We are here to support you on this journey and look forward to witnessing your child's growth. We pray this is a time of joy, reflection, and unity for your family.
Anchor Scripture
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 NLT
What does being saved mean (salvation)?
The breaking free of every spiritual and eternal bondage of sin. This type of freeing or deliverance is released immediately by God to those who accept His conditions of repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus.
Here is a sample anecdote you can share with your children to assist them in understanding salvation.
Imagine that you’re carrying a heavy backpack full of rocks. These rocks represent all the wrong things we do, like being mean or not listening to our parents. Carrying this heavy backpack makes us tired and unhappy.
Now, imagine someone comes and offers to take that backpack from you. They say, “I’ll carry it for you so you don’t have to.” That’s like what Jesus does for us with our sins. He offers to take them away so we don’t have to carry them anymore.
When we say yes to Jesus and ask him to take away our sins, it’s like saying, “Yes, please! I want to be free from this heavy burden.” That’s what salvation is—it’s being set free from the weight of our sins and being made right with God.
So, when we talk about salvation, we’re talking about being rescued by Jesus from all the bad things we’ve done. It’s like being given a fresh start and a new life with Jesus as our friend and helper. All we need to do is say sorry for our wrong choices and believe that Jesus can save us, and he will.

Weekly Curriculum
Week 1: Salvation through Jesus Christ
We believe the only way to receive salvation is through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Bible provides several scriptures that explain salvation through Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:9-10
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Week 2: Reading the Bible
We believe the word of God is our infallible truth. As believers, we believe the word of God is the tool necessary to navigate through everyday life. The Bible says that we should meditate on the Word daily.
Joshua 1:8
Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
Week 3: Fellowship with believers
We believe in the gathering of fellowship in the church. The Body of Christ consists of believers journeying with Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:12-13
12. For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body-Jews or Greeks, slaves or free-and all were made to drink of one Spirit
Week 4: What happens after salvation? (connecting to a Local Body)
You build your relationship with God by reading the Bible, connecting with a local church, and prayer. By reading the word and connecting with a local body for discipleship, your mind is being transformed. As a member of the Body of Christ, you also have the opportunity to fellowship with other believers.
Romans 12: 1-2 (NLT Version)
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice-the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
